Phione is one of the trickier Pokémon to add to your Pokédex in Pokémon Pokopia. Unlike the vast majority of Pokémon that show up once you build the right Habitat, Phione skips that whole system entirely. Getting it requires a specific item, a special island, and a healthy amount of patience since luck is genuinely part of the process.
What do you need to find in Bubbly Basin?
Phione only appears on the Bubbly Basin Dream Island, and the only way to reach that island is by using the
Starmie Doll. If you haven't tracked that item down yet, check out our guide on how to find the Starmie Doll in Bubbly Basin before continuing here.
Once you have the
Starmie Doll, place it somewhere on your island and interact with it. Doing so summons Drifloon, who whisks you off to the Dream Island tied to the doll. That's your gateway to Phione.
Check Pokédex on arrivalHow to check if is actually there
Before you spend time combing the entire Dream Island, open your Pokédex the moment you land. Look at the list of entities currently present on the island.
- If the list shows only you and
Drifloon,
Phione is not there. Save yourself the
search and come back another day. - If you see a question mark icon in the list,
Phione is present and waiting to be found.
This trick saves a lot of wasted exploration. The Dream Island isn't tiny, and hunting every corner for a Pokémon that isn't even there is a frustrating way to spend your daily visit.
Phione doesn't show up on your first attempt, you'll have to wait until the next day and try again.Where is 's room on the Dream Island?
Phione doesn't roam freely around the island. It sits inside a walled-off
brick room that looks noticeably different from everything else on the Dream Island. You're scanning for dark grey and tan
brick blocks with solid dark pink blocks used as accents. That color combination stands out sharply against the rest of the environment.
The exact position of this room changes between visits, so there's no fixed map coordinate to follow. What stays consistent is the room's appearance. Once you've seen it once, you'll recognize it immediately on future trips.
The room tends to appear deep inside underwater caves on the island. Occasionally rocks block the entrance, requiring the Rock Smash ability to clear the path. Other times the room sits in plain sight with nothing blocking access. Either way, the outer structure always looks the same, so keep scanning your surroundings as you move through the island.
What happens when you find ?
Once you locate the
brick room and enter it, a cutscene plays automatically. Phione speaks to you and asks if you can help it find a new place to live. Agreeing brings Phione back to your island, officially adding it to your Pokédex.
There's no battle, no complex interaction sequence. The whole thing resolves through conversation, which makes the actual encounter feel rewarding after however many days it took to get
Phione to spawn.
