Bleak Beach is the second major region you unlock in Pokémon Pokopia, accessible after making progress in the Withered Wasteland. This once beautiful coastal area is now filled with ruins, flooded areas, and trash. With Professor Tangrowth by your side, your mission is to restore it to its former glory.
1. Repairing the Broken Bridge
Upon entering the beach through the Area Gate with Professor Tangrowth, you'll immediately encounter the first obstacle.

- How to Fix: Use any material blocks (such as Soil or Stone Floor) to fill the gap in the bridge so Professor Tangrowth can safely cross.
- Tip: You can find the Square Tiling crafting recipe on the ground next to the Workbench to the right of the bridge.

- Place
Square Tiling side by side so the bridge is two tiles wide, then the Professor will cross safely.
2. The Flooded Pokémon Center
Cross the bridge and follow Professor Tangrowth to the flooded Pokémon Center.

Stopping the Water Flow
Interact with the PC and you'll find it's not working. To restore it:
- Go behind the Pokémon Center to find the broken waterway/fountain.

- Craft or collect Tiles and place them around the fountain to stop the water from flowing down.
- Block the west-facing water outlet — this requires a few blocks to seal completely.
- Once the water is blocked, interact with the PC again and pick up the "Rebuild the Pokémon Center" Important Request.
[!NOTE] You won't be able to rebuild immediately — this is an overarching Important Request for your time in Bleak Beach. Reach Environment Level 3 first, then buy the Pokémon Center repair kit from the PC for 1,000 Coins.
3. Meeting Meowth
After interacting with the PC, follow the story to meet Meowth.

Follow Meowth to their shack and speak with them.

Craft Mushroom Lamps for Meowth
Meowth needs light — create 2x Mushroom Lamps for their shack:
- 2x
Glowing Mushroom - 2x
Sturdy Stick

Place the lamps inside Meowth's shack, then speak to Meowth again.
4. Attracting Piplup & Cleaning the Mud
Wait for Meowth to display the "Look at all that mud!" speech bubble, then:
-
Build a "Hydrated yellow tall grass" Habitat to attract
Piplup:- 4x Yellow Tall Grass
- 2x Water
-
Have Piplup follow you to the mud piles outside Meowth's hut.

- Piplup will spray the mud automatically when close enough — then use Water Gun to wash the mud away completely.

- Speak to Meowth after all mud is cleared.
5. Building a House for a Pokémon
Return to Professor Tangrowth and speak with them. Your next task is to build a house for a Pokémon to live in.

- Build a house from its kit.
- Walk to the Pokémon you want as a resident and have them follow you.
- At the house, interact and select "Wanna move in?".
Then return to Professor Tangrowth with the "What a Splendid House" speech bubble.
6. Attracting Torchic & Trubbish
Torchic — Chirp-chirp Meal Habitat
Speak to Meowth again and build a "Chirp-chirp Meal" habitat:
- 1x
Wooden Birdhouse - 1x
Plate - 1x
Table (Any)
[!TIP] Shortcut: Directly opposite Meowth's shack is all of these pieces of furniture. Just place a food item on the table in front of the Wooden Birdhouse.
When Torchic arrives, bring
Squishy Clay to make
Bricks, then build 2x
Planters:
Place the planters outside Meowth's shack and add flowers.
Trubbish — Trash Collection Site Habitat
Next, build a "Trash Collection Site" habitat:
- 1x
Waste Bin (Any) - 1x
Garbage Bags - 1x
Sign (Any)
Bring Trubbish 1x
Unburnable Garbage (found as litter around Bleak Beach) to produce
Iron Ore. This unlocks the Shower recipe — craft a Shower (2x
Iron Ore) for Piplup.
7. Attracting Pawmi & Waking Mosslax
When Trubbish shows the "What're those noises, yo?" speech bubble, build a "Breezy Flower Bed" habitat to attract
Pawmi:
Have Pawmi follow you to the unlit Streetlight. Then follow Trubbish's directions — smash through breakable rocks with Rock Smash to reveal Mosslax!

Return to Professor Tangrowth and bring them to see Mosslax. Then complete the "Brighten Things Up!" Important Request.
8. Unlocking Surf with Lapras
After lighting up the area and waking Mosslax, work toward befriending
Lapras to unlock Surf.

- Build the "Tropical Seaside" habitat (requires hedges and a palm tree near water).
- After cleaning the shore with Piplup, befriend Lapras.
- Have Piplup create a waterfall to fully complete Lapras's storyline.

Completing this sequence will grant you the Surf Transformation, allowing you to swim across waterways.
9. Regional Resources & Collectibles
Bleak Beach provides unique materials essential for high-end crafting:
- Natural Resources:
Driftwood,
Seashells,
Sea Glass Fragments,
Seaweed, and
Non-burnable Garbage. - Food:
Tomatoes,
Beans, and
Leppa Berries. - Secret Items: Collect "Human Records" (Newspapers, Diaries, Photos) hidden near the Lighthouse or Inland Cliffs to unlock the Sailor and Ranger outfits.
