Lumber is one of the most essential resources in the early game of Pokémon Pokopia. You'll need it for everything from building your first habitats to restoring the Withered Wasteland Pokémon Center.

While you might occasionally find small wood piles in the overworld, the most efficient way to get Lumber is through the Chop Specialty and the Cut Move.

1. How to Find Scyther

Scyther is the first Pokémon you'll encounter that can help you with lumber. To attract one, you need to create its favorite habitat in the Withered Wasteland.

Building the Tree-Shaded Tall Grass Habitat

• Requirements: Place 4 Tall Grass tiles around a Large Tree.
• Pro-Tips:
  • Use Water Gun to water trees.
  • Use Leafage (Press ZR to switch moves) to create the grass tiles.
  • Wait for the grass to shake, indicating a Pokémon has arrived.

2. Learning the Cut Move

Once Scyther appears, talk to it. It will have an orange speech bubble.

• Request: Scyther wants 2 Sturdy Sticks.
• Reward: It will teach you the Cut Move.
• Usage: Press ZR to cycle through your moves until you select Cut.

3. How to Get Small Logs

Lumber cannot be gathered directly; you must first gather Small Logs.

• Where to find: Look for large piles of wood blocking paths around the Pokémon Center ruins.
• Action: Use your newly learned Cut move on these piles to break them into Small Logs.
• Warning: You can also cut down trees, but we recommend keeping them for Berries and habitats early on.
