There are many crafting materials in Pokémon Pokopia, and one that players often overlook early on is Lumber. This resource is required fairly early in the game, especially when rebuilding areas like the Withered Wasteland Pokémon Center.

The problem is that the game does not immediately explain how Lumber is made. Players first need to gather another material and use the help of a Pokémon with the right specialty.

This guide explains how to get Lumber in Pokémon Pokopia, where to find the required materials, and which Pokémon can help process it.

How Lumber Works in Pokémon Pokopia

Lumber is not collected directly from the environment. Instead, it is crafted from another material called Small Logs.

To convert logs into Lumber, players must bring the logs to a Pokémon that has the Chop Specialty. These Pokémon process the raw wood and turn it into usable building material.

One of the earliest Pokémon that can do this is Scyther, which also plays a role in rebuilding early facilities.

How to Find Scyther

Before players can produce Lumber, they first need to attract Scyther.

Scyther appears when a Tree-shaded Tall Grass habitat is built. This setup is simple and can be created early in the game.

To make this habitat:

  • Place four Tall Grass tiles near a tree
  • Arrange them in a 2×2 square or around the tree

After placing the grass, leave the area for a short time. Scyther should eventually appear.

Once Scyther settles in, a yellow speech bubble will appear above its head. Talking to Scyther triggers a small request. Bring two Sturdy Sticks, and Scyther will teach the Cut Transformation, which is needed to gather logs.

How to Get Small Logs

Small Logs are the main material needed to produce Lumber. These logs can only be collected after unlocking the Cut ability.

There are two ways to obtain Small Logs:

  • Cutting piles of wood found around areas like the Withered Wasteland
  • Cutting down trees

Cutting healthy green trees usually gives better results. If a tree looks dried out or withered, players can revive it by using Water Gun before cutting it down. A healthy tree tends to produce more logs.

Early areas usually contain enough wood piles that players can gather logs without needing to restore trees.

How to Turn Small Logs into Lumber

Once enough Small Logs are collected, players simply need to bring them to Scyther or another Pokémon with the Chop Specialty.

The conversion rate is straightforward:

Players can give up to 10 logs at once, which produces 50 Lumber after processing.

The process takes time, so it is best to leave the Pokémon working and continue exploring or completing other tasks while the Lumber is being prepared.

Pokémon That Can Make Lumber

Several Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia can process logs into Lumber. These Pokémon have the Chop Specialty.

Having multiple Chop-type Pokémon can help speed up production if players plan to build a lot.

What Lumber Is Used For

Lumber is one of the most common crafting materials in Pokémon Pokopia. It is mainly used for building structures, crafting wooden items, and upgrading facilities.

Because many recipes require wood, it is a good idea to keep extra Lumber stored in a Storage Chest or inventory. Players who enjoy building habitats and decorations will go through this material quickly.

Keeping a steady supply of Small Logs and a working Chop Pokémon ensures that Lumber is always available when needed.

Happy ranching in Pokopia!
