Paint in Pokémon Pokopia is what allows you to change and customise the colour of any furniture items or decorations. This is great for giving otherwise simple, plain furniture a splash of colour and setting up themed habitats for your Pokémon with matching decor.
Before you can customise your furniture, you'll need to grind a little to make all the different colours of paint. Here's everything you need to know about how to get all Paint in Pokopia, including all Paint recipes and Paint Balloon recipes.
How to Get Paint in Pokémon Pokopia
There are two ways to get Paint in Pokémon Pokopia. Earlier in your playthrough, you'll need Berries and
Crush Specialty Pokémon to make Paint for you. Later on, you'll be able to buy Paint directly from shops.
Method 1: Crush Berries into Paint

This is the primary way to get Paint during the early and mid game. Follow these steps:
- Collect Berries – Every unique type of Berry can be used to make a type of Paint associated with its colour. For example,
Leppa Berries create
Red Paint while
Pecha Berries create
Pink Paint. - Find a
Crush Specialty Pokémon – Show your Berries to a Pokémon with the
Crush Specialty, such as
Onix in Withered Wastelands or
Conkeldurr in Sparkling Skylands. These Pokémon will take the Berries and process them into Paint. - Wait for processing – It takes a short while for the Pokémon to finish crushing, so go and do something else while you wait.
Method 2: Purchase from Shops
Once you upgrade Palette Town to Environment Level 5, you can buy all colours of Paint directly from the PC Shop. This removes the need to gather Berries. Paint is also available from the Cloud Island shop at Level 5.
How to Use Paint: Smearguru & Paint Balloons

Once you have Paint, there are two ways to colour your items:
- Smearguru: Head to Bleak Beach and visit Smearguru. Bring your Paint and the item you wish to customise, and they'll paint it for you.
- Paint Balloons: Alternatively, take your Paint to a Workbench and craft Paint Balloons. These can be thrown directly at placed furniture to quickly change its colour.

- Use Paint Balloons for speed: Crafting Paint Balloons lets you colour placed furniture instantly without visiting Smearguru.
- Mix colours for variety: Many of the 20 Paint Balloon colours only require mixing two basic paint colours. Check the table above for all combinations.
